Wellborn Special Utility District is seeking a motivated and dependable Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator to assist with the operation and maintenance of the District’s surface water treatment facility. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable drinking water in compliance with all federal and state regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess a TCEQ Class C Surface Water Operator License (or equivalent certification from another state eligible for Texas reciprocity) and have experience in water treatment plant operations, mechanical systems, and regulatory compliance.

Wellborn Special Utility District is seeking a motivated and dependable Surface Water Operator Trainee to assist with the operation and maintenance of the District’s surface water treatment plant. This position provides on-the-job training in water treatment plant operations and regulatory compliance under the direct supervision of licensed operators.
No prior water utility experience is required. The District will provide training for motivated candidates interested in building a long-term career in the public water industry. This position offers hands-on experience with water treatment processes and provides a pathway toward obtaining a TCEQ Surface Water Operator license, with licensing and continuing education supported by the District.

March 2026 - NOW HIRING LICENSED WATER OPERATOR (Distribution System)
The District is seeking a qualified Licensed Water Operator to assist in the operation and maintenance of the public water system. This position performs a wide variety of duties including operation and maintenance of water distribution facilities, system monitoring, water quality sampling, customer service, and emergency response.
The position requires significant driving throughout the District’s service area and work in all weather conditions. The operator will participate in a rotating on-call schedule and will also assist with training and supervision of operator trainees.

The District is seeking a motivated Water Operator Trainee to assist with the operation and maintenance of the public water system while working under the supervision of licensed operators. This entry-level position provides hands-on training in the operation and maintenance of water production and distribution facilities.
The trainee will gain experience in water system operations, water quality monitoring, and system maintenance while preparing to obtain a TCEQ Water Operator license. The position requires significant driving throughout the District’s service area and work in all weather conditions. The trainee will also interact occasionally with customers while assisting with field operations.
